Mel Gibson-Christian Bale mashup (NSFW audio)

Posted on | July 15, 2010 | No Comments

Well, it’s always been my philosophy that if you don’t laugh, you cry…so with that said, here is an example of the internets at their best, a mashup of meltdowns by Mel Gibson and Christian Bale. The audio is uncensored and Not Safe for Work (or NSFW to you geeks), so you might want to turn your speakers all the way up (is joke)…

It’s not really a laughing matter, but on the web, isn’t everything in a way? I’m not about to pick sides, Christian Bale, Mel Gibson, or Oksana…Oksana…well, the woman who “produced” the recordings of Gibson. I think in this game there are no winners…and please, no wagering. (hat tip to Letterman)…

So please enjoy this mashup of two major meltdowns, and remember, putting Bale and Gibson together in a locked room would either result in the best Dr. Drew reality show ever, or a fantastic pay per view cage match. Bye for now!

Found: Glenn Beck’s Origins

Posted on | July 13, 2010 | 2 Comments

It took some time, but at long last we have found the inspiration for Glenn Beck’s style and methods. From Canada’s very own The Kids in the Hall, we present this video:

We present, you decide.

The Kids in the Hall is a Canadian sketch comedy group formed in 1984, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. Their eponymous television show ran from 1988 to 1994 on CBC in Canada, and 1989 to 1995 on CBS and HBO in the United States. The theme song for the show was the instrumental “Having an Average Weekend” by the Canadian band Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. The troupe made one movie, Brain Candy, which was released in 1996.

The name of the group came from Sid Caesar, who, if a joke didn’t go over, or played worse than expected, would attribute it to “the kids in the hall,” referring to a group of young writers hanging around the studio.

February 26 is Bill Hicks Day! Visit the Bill Hicks Day website or the official Bill Hicks website for more information, then get your Tweet on @ #billhicksday.

William Melvin Hicks was a modern-day prophet:

I had a vision of a way we could have no enemies ever again, if you’re interested in this. Anybody interested in hearing this?
It’s kind of an interesting theory, and all we have to do is make one decisive act and we can rid the world of all our enemies at once.
Here’s what we do. You know all that money we spend on nuclear weapons and defense every year? Trillions of dollars.
Instead, if we spent that money feeding and clothing the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over,
not one human being excluded … not one … we could as one race explore inner and outer space together in peace, for ever.

I highly recommend the book “Love All The People” which is a compilation of some of Bill’s best live performances, essays, scripts, letters, and some background information written by the editor, John Lahr.

Hicks used a ribald approach to express his material, describing himself as “Chomsky with dick jokes.”

As with so many artists throughout history, Hicks was unappreciated in his homeland and gained more fame after death than in life. His recordings live on as a testimony to his brilliance:

So join me in remembering the life and career of Bill Hicks by enjoying this video, tweeting some of your favourite quotes from Bill, or enjoying some of his recorded works.

Gary Cole on playing Lumbergh

In this interview, Gary Cole talks about his role as Lumbergh in the classic movie “Office Space“, Mike Judge’s 20th Century classic film about work. And how much it sucks.

If you haven’t seen the movie “Office Space”, you simply must. Unable to endure another mind-numbing day at Initech Corporation, cubicle slave Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) gets fired up and decides to get fired. Armed with a leisurely new attitude and a sexy new girlfriend (Jennifer Aniston), he soon masters the art of neglecting his work, which quickly propels him into the ranks of upper management! Now the stage is set for Peter to carry out a high-tech embezzling scheme that’s sure to mean the end of his job and a one-way ticket to easy street. Can he pull it off before all corporate hell breaks loose?

With an amazing cast, including:

  • Ron Livingston
  • Jennifer Aniston
  • Gary Cole
  • Stephen Root
  • Mike Judge in a cameo
  • the Bobs
  • the guy who plays Slinkowksi

and many others, Office Space is one of the funniest films of all time.

I hope you enjoy this interview with the very talented Gary Cole as much as I.
