Weird Al + Green Day = hilarity ensues

Posted on | August 25, 2009 | 2 Comments

Weird Al does Green Day to the words of “Canadian Idiot.” This is a very entertaining video using clips from the movies Canadian Bacon and Strange Brew – two classic hoser movies that will really help you Americans understand the Canuck mindset.

As:

  • a fan of Weird Al Yankovic
  • a Canadian, and
  • a fan of the album American Idiot

I really got a laugh from this video. Canadian ex-pats can laugh at themselves even in the middle of listening to Americans bitch about Canada’s health insurance program. But hey, congrats on electing a black president. Chris Rock must be very proud.

Speaking of the Canuck Socialized Medicine, Canadian Bacon is one of the funniest under-rated movies – I believe it was the last film that John Candy completed before his demise. It also stars noted Little Person Rhea Perlmann and was directed by Michael Moore. It precedes the plot of Wag the Dog, with an American president (Alan Alda, after he got back from the Korean Conflict) needing a war to wage to boost his standing in the polls. Maybe not so funny a plot in light of recent events, but the movie Canadian Bacon is hilarious! Rip Torn delivers as always in the role of General Panzer, and the film’s cameo by Dan Aykroyd is worth the cost of a rental alone.

So please enjoy this humorous clip of Weird Al, from Weird Al Yankovic’s album “Straight Outta Lynwood“. If you like that album you might also enjoy:
